If nothing else is selected by the user, DeLIver will search ALL PARTS of the article, using ALSO MUST CONTAIN to connect individual search terms, across ALL PUBLISHERS and ALL DATES.
What does DeLIver stand for?
DeLIver stands for: Desktop Link to Virtual Engineering Resources. The "DLI" is emphasized because our projected is the Digital Library Initiative.
Will DeLIver continue to expand?
Articles in DeLIver are sent to us by the publishers of the journals. More recent, up-to-date articles are continually being added; Some are added sooner than others, depending on when we receive them from the publishers. This is the list of available journals.
DeLIver's database will not be expanding backward in time.
We welcome suggestions as to new journals to add to DeLIver's database, however, at this time, we are not planning on adding more journal titles to the system.
What do you mean by "full text"?
DeLIver searches and displays the full text of its database of journal articles. "Full text" means the entire article, including figures, tables, equations, references.
Is there a "command mode" possible?
No, due to the software we're using.
What does "Experimental" mean?
By "experimental" we are indicating that this is first a new system, and second a system that tries to do things that have not been done before. It carries with it the issues that go with such new systems: the potential to be problematic at times. Developers are working to make it stable and reliable, as well as work out any bugs.
Can you make the references hyper links?
Using DeLIver on the Web, you can link from the references to abstracts. Using DeLIver on select terminals in the Grainger Engineering Library Information Center (the five terminals around the reference desk), you can link from the references to the full-text if the article is in DeLIVer, or to an abstract if it's not.
Can I use this if I don't go to the U of I?
Because the articles in DeLIver are copyrighted material, we are required by our agreement with our publishing partners to limit access to the system..
