Other University of Illinois Digital Library Efforts

Astronomy Digital Image Lab (ADIL)
The Astronomy Digital Lab is a publicly accessible WWW-based repository of radio astronomy images. The radio astronomy images are contributed by the user community. Users can search descriptive data and can access quick browse images or the full databases. The ADIL is linked to other astronomical repositories and also has multimedia exhibits for non-technical users.

Getty Museum Education Site Licensing Project (MESL)
The MESL project is a collaboration of seven collecting institutions and seven universities, defining the terms and conditions for the educational use of digitized museum images and related information. MESL participants are developing a model educational site license, testing and evaluating procedures for the collection and distribution of museums' digital images and information, and assessing the impact of this distribution, in both technical and economic terms. At the end of this experiment, which will run for two-academic years (until June 1997, the participants will propose a broadly-based system that could support ongoing distribution and educational use of museum images and text.

Horizon Project (NASA)

The project seeks to enhance digital library technology, specifically WWW client and server technology, in support of better public access to earth and space science data. Two testbed servers, one for earth and one for space science data, will provide working real world applications to thoroughly test and demonstrate this technology.
